Rejoicing in the Midst of Four Goodbyes

Four families connected to our church said goodbye to loved ones this week. Two had services today. Losing a loved one is sometimes a cruel reminder of the permanence of death. Physical death and the mourning that goes alongside it are inescapable realities in this present world.

We remember fondly those we have lost for the impact they made on those around them. We remember special times we shared with them and will always cherish those memories. Thankfully, however, God has given us, in Christ, more than just memories.

In Christ there is victory over sin, death and the grave. As the Apostle Paul wrote to those in Corinth, regarding the resurrection, “… but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” In spite of the pain and ugliness of physical death we find an opportunity for true, lasting, life in Christ. A life that we can never lose and never fades or fails.

Would you join me in praying for the Locklin, Cox (no relation), White and Bush families? We pray they find ultimate comfort in Christ as they celebrate the power of the Gospel to redeem!
